How to Clean Fabric Ashley Furniture Chairs

by May Fitzgerald

A cozy fabric chair is more than just another piece of furniture. It’s a place that reminds you of all the adventures you’ve had and the lands you’ve traveled to while reading multiple books in it. It’s a place where you like to just kick back and relax. That’s why we’ve found that an Ashley Furniture chair can be more than a piece of ordinary furniture too, and should be treated with great care to keep it around for years to come.

So, if you decide to get a comfy chair from Ashley Furniture, follow these steps to keep its fabric in pristine condition. The longer you continue to maintain its cleanliness, the longer you can continue making memories in it.

What you’ll need:

- A vacuum

- Wash cloth (preferably a white one)

- Can of compressed air

- Small bucket or large bowl

- Dawn soap

- Horsehair upholstery brush

Step 1: Operation Suction

If your chair is made of something a little more delicate, such as silk, be sure to set your vacuum to a low suction. Take the suction attachment on your vacuum and work your way from the top to the bottom of your chair in long strokes. If there are removable cushions on your chair, you’ll want to make sure those get laid to the side, so you can easily suck up anything that may be behind them. It’s a scary place to look, we get it. Crumbs and sticky bobby pins are not an ideal combination, but you just need to go for it and stop pretending it’s part of the Halloween décor.

Now that everything is sucked up, take your can of compressed air and spray it in the little crevices that were hard to get with the vacuum.

Step 2: Scrub-a-dub-dub

Now it’s time for a little water. Be careful not to soak your fabric Ashley Furniture chair. Some chairs with material don’t always respond well to a lot of water. So, start off by testing a small area first and after it dries, if all goes well, go ahead and do the rest.

All you need is a dab of soap poured in a bucket or bowl of warm water. Take your upholstery brush and dip it in the soapy suds, making sure to not get a ton of water on it. You’ll then want to gently scrub your fabric furniture and then wipe it off with a damp cloth.

Step 3: Let it dry

This may seem like common sense, but it’s important to be clear here: Wait for you chair to dry completely before sitting in it! Don’t put a towel on it and sit on it, as this will extend the drying process. You could move the chair next to a window where sunlight can peak through or just simply wait for it to air dry on its own.

We want you to have the best experiences possible with your new Ashley furniture, which sometimes means a little cleaning every couple of months on your end. But, if you think it’s time for a new chair to make memories in, stop by to test out the comfy Ashley furniture chairs we have in-store.
